Kishore K Jha, born on 15th May, 1960 has done his master’s in urban planning from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering, Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Pulchowk, Lalitpur, Nepal.
As Executive Chairperson of Nepal Integrated Research and Development Foundation (NIRAD) which is a Not-for-Profit Company Sh. Kishore K Jha ji was involved in advocacy and advisory activities related to the sectors of Road Safety, Urban Planning & Housing, Sustainable Energy. He is working as Consultant for Asian Development Bank and the World Bank funded assignments. (July 2014 to date.) for preparation of Strategic Master Plan for Developing Nijgadh as Smart City (Jan. 2018-Dec. 2019), Updating the Draft Urban Development Act 2076, (Dec. 2017 to June 2018 (interim) for strengthening National Planning and Monitoring Capacity Program, 2014
As Director/Managing Director/Civil-Engineer/Urban Planner, MULTI Disciplinary Consultants (P) Ltd. executed more than 35 consulting assignments as the Project Director/Team Leader/Urban Planner/Results Based Management Expert/ Infrastructure Engineer/ Procurement Engineer. Consultant for Asian Development Bank and the World Bank funded assignments from time to time. July 1993 to June 2014.
As Deputy Team Leader/Rural Infrastructure Specialist for ADB TA 4905 has supported the National Planning Commission (GoN) for preparation of 3-Year Interim Development Plan, Feb. – Dec. 2007, Nepal . He also held responsibility of Team Leader, District Social Assessment for the six pilot districts under the Poverty Alleviation Fund, Jan. 2005 to Nov. 2005 and was also responsible for prioritisation of VDCs for immediate program implementation •As Training Coordinator, prepared the Training Manual on Biodiversity Conservation, Eco-Tourism and Community Development aspects under Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (TRPAP-SNPBZ).
Kishore K Jha also worked as Technical Advisor/Consultant; National Rural Employment Program, District Rural Development Authority Dhanbad District, Govt. of Bihar, India, 1988-93 • Worked as Assistant Engineer (Irrigation/Water Supply)/Procurement Engineer, HMG/N, DIHM, Second Hill Irrigation Project (ADB funded) and DWSS (Surkhet). July 1984 to Dec. 1988.
As a Volunteer worked as National Projects Coordinator; ART OF LIVING NEPAL Associated with AOL Nepal since October 2003 AD. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating different SEWA projects. The projects are categorised as i) disaster relief including earthquake 2015 response, COVID response and other natural seasonal disasters. ii) prison smart program, iii) project pavitra, iv) mission green earth programs covering tree plantation & river rejuvenation, v) education and health support programs, and vi) model village development program, and Vocational Skill Development Project for Unprivileged Youth in collaboration with SSRDP Trust (AOL (Bengaluru), (iii) conduct Youth Leadership Training Program (YLTP) to more than twenty thousand participants.
Kishore K Jha is a Founder Member and Vice Chairperson (since 2002 AD), Tripty Narayan Memorial ENT Hospital, Tilathi VDC, Saptari, – a NGO registered with CDO, Rajbiraj, Nepal , Member, Lions Club of Kathmandu Universal (District 325 A, Nepal) – since June 20, 2000, Director- LY 2001-2002, Secretary LY 2002-03, Third, Second and First VP during LY 2003- 06.
Kishore K Jha is a recipient of several awards including the prestigious Founder’s Membership Growth Award by the International President for successfully assuming the responsibility of District Membership Chairman (LY 2002-2003) of District 325 A Nepal. • Project Chairperson, LCIF-Sight First Cataract Program SF1018, LY 2003-04. Responsible for organizing cataract (IOL) surgeries for 6000 needy patients through 19 Lions Clubs in various parts of Nepal. • General Secretary, (Elected Unopposed), The International Students’ Association at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon (Year: 1982-84).
His other key contributions included; – As team member, involved in developing the conceptual plan for the establishment of Science City, Lalitpur (Satdobaato-Godavari) for Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST); April, 2021. – Facilitated conducting feasibility study of housing for lower income groups in Kathmandu valley for KVDA, and subsequently developing policy guidelines for program implementation. Aug. 2014 – As team member reviewed National Urban Policy 2007 for possible revision and updating in the changing context of the nation, Sep.-Nov., 2013 – As team member supported MOUD develop a framework for preparing municipal bylaws on building.
