From Bars To Blessings: The Redemption Of Raman Bhardwaj

Raman Bhardwaj

Raman Bhardwaj’s journey was a testament to the transformative power of second chances. Locked away in Haridwar Prison for a crime committed in a moment of rage, he spent 14 years contemplating his actions. Yet, within those prison walls, he discovered an opportunity for redemption.

With determination and resilience, Raman immersed himself in learning computer skills and mastering Tally. Despite the confines of his past, he embraced the chance to better himself. His good behaviour earned him an early release after 12 years.  Raman studied under the Digital Skills and Cyber Safety Project of Sri Sri Rural Development Trust; supported by Team Computers Pvt. Ltd.  Prison Smart Programs of The Art of Living helped him overcome the stress and anxiety in the confines and moved towards charting a new course of his life; armed with professional skills and improved mental clarity and focus, reduced stress and enhanced emotional stability.

Upon freedom’s embrace, Raman chose to give back. He joined as a trainer of HUM-SSRDP at Dehradun Prison, teaching inmates the very skills that had changed his life. Through acceptance and willingness to change, he inspired others to follow suit.

Gratitude filled his heart as he transitioned from despair to hope. He took up destressing techniques like yoga and meditation introduced by HUM – SSRDP guiding him towards inner peace.

Raman Bhardwaj’s story epitomized the triumph of the human spirit over adversity—a testament to the power of upskilling, attitude, and mainstreaming in shaping a brighter future.
