Deepak Sharma, has been a Trustee of Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust under Art of Living Foundation from 2011.
He has been instrumental in starting numerous initiatives, programs / projects and leading them to success from nascent stage.
Light a Home has been a flagship project which has brought light to more than 11000 households in 780 villages with off-grid renewable energy in rural areas till date. This has led to improved infrastructure for education, livelihoods and to light up lives of millions indirectly.
He has played key role in initiating the Skills Training program under SSRDP. Currently there are over 65 skills training centers and approximately 3.5 Lakh youths across India have trained in over 36 Trades. The hallmark of each skill centre is its ability to train youths in Skill & Will Development. In 2019, an unique project to build lives of Prisoners was started with an intent to give them impart life skills to help them earn their lively hood after their release. Till date 1800 Inmates have been trained in more than 11 trades in 17 Central Prisons of India . This latest program has seen very good impact and astounding success.
The waste management program was initiated in 2017 for managing waste of temples, first of its kind, which stands apart in waste to wealth innovation across India. This has been successfully rolled out at 16 major pilgrimage temples across India with overwhelming response. These efforts fuelled the bagging of also is operational in some prominent Municipal Corporations across India including New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
As a volunteer Deepak has played key role in rolling out AOL’s Programs at prison and terrorist rehabilitation programs across India. Of these most prominent has been in 2010 was instrumental in rehabilitating more than 1100 surrendered militants in Manipur in a project with Assam Rifles.
Other projects initiated by him include, the Community of Rural Enterprises (CORE), Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) & Shuddhi (Waste Management).
Deepak has an MBA in Marketing & Finance & Graduations in BBA(Hons) from De Montfort University, Leicester. He initiated a start-up Veda Wellness Pvt Ltd which he sold off to join Art of Living Foundation, as a full-time sevak in 2006.
