Poonam Sharma  has served the Nation under the HP Government. She has done  Masters in Economics from Himachal Pradesh University and Public Administration from Indira Gandhi  Open University. She joined Himachal Pradesh Secretariat in July, 1988 and  after serving for almost 34 years has superannuated as Deputy Secretary to the Government of HP from HPSS Cadre on 31-01-2023.

During her career in Himachal Pradesh Secretariat  on different assignments she has served  in various departments  like  General Administration , Industries, Agriculture, Fisheries,  Labour and Employment, Revenue and Personnel (Secretariat Administration) and handled work relating to establishment matters, budget, accounts, State Awards, CM Relief Fund and various other miscellaneous matters.

Specifically assisted Secretary (GAD and SAD) in digitization of details freedom fighters/ their dependents for direct transfer of Samman Rashi in their Bank Accounts, preparation of   Result Framework document,  Appreciation Letters for State Awardees ,  implementation of e. Office project in HP Secretariat. Assisted High level Committee who studied implementation of  flagship programs of Govt. i.e. Swachh Bharat Mission, kaushal Vikas Mission and Fasal Bima Yojna in Himachal  Pradesh.
