In the heart of the majestic Uttarakhand Himalayas, nestled amidst serene landscapes and quaint villages, lies the village of Punwanaula. Here, in the shadows of the towering peaks, resided a young boy named Raj Singh Bisht. Little did he know, his journey was about to take an extraordinary turn.

Raj, a student at Government Inter College Punwanaula, had always harboured dreams as vast as the Himalayan sky. Yet, in a village where access to technology was as rare as a Himalayan snow leopard sighting, those dreams seemed distant.

It wasn’t until the year 2022, when a digital literacy and cyber safety program was introduced in his school, that Raj’s world truly began to change. At the age of 15, he sat in front of a computer for the very first time, his eyes wide with wonder and curiosity.

Under the guidance of dedicated computer teachers provided by the SSRDP (Sri Sri Skill Rural Development Program Trust), Raj embarked on a journey of discovery. With each click of the mouse and tap of the keyboard, he delved deeper into the realms of technology, fuelled by a newfound passion for the subject.

The value addition sessions conducted by experts opened Raj’s eyes to the endless possibilities that awaited those who embraced digital literacy. He realized that being digitally savvy wasn’t just a skill; it was a gateway to a global movement towards digitization, a movement he was determined to be a part of.

Despite hailing from a small village in the remote corners of Uttarakhand, Raj’s determination knew no bounds. With the consistent efforts of his trainers, he swiftly progressed from learning the basics to mastering advanced concepts in just two years.

His hard work and dedication bore fruit when he secured admission to Graphic Era, one of the most prestigious universities in Uttarakhand, for a degree in Computer Science. But Raj’s success was not his alone. Thirteen more students from different schools across Uttarakhand had also secured admissions in various universities and polytechnics for computer science, a testament to the transformative power of education and perseverance.  They also were part of the Digital Literacy and Cyber Safety Program under CSR support by Team Computers Pvt. Ltd., conceived and implemented by SSRDP Trust.

As Raj stood on the threshold of a new chapter in his life, he knew that his journey was just beginning. With each keystroke and line of code, he would continue to blaze a trail towards a future where dreams knew no boundaries, where the remotest corners of the world were connected by the vast digital landscape, and where every child, no matter their background, had the opportunity to soar to great heights.
