Skill Development in the Himalayas
In the Himalayan states, there is a special focus on skilling in sectors that can promote sustainable development, such as solar energy. There are other skills based on the need of the area and demand have been offered such as Computer Training, Electrician training, Tailoring, Embroidery, Bamboo Crafting, Plumber, Yoga Instructor, Mushroom Farming, etc. Some of SSRDP’s skill development centers (SSKVK) are located in remote parts of the North-East, Jammu and Kashmir, and other areas affected by the unrest.

To create economic opportunities for youth, women, and vulnerable sections of society, Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust (SSRDP), Art of Living, as a certified partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), is authorized to provide NSDC certification for vocational and skill development training for around 2,000 job roles in 32 sectors.

Story of Change
From the valley of fear to the valley of hope
Coming from the small town of Badgam near Srinagar, these 25 youth were engaged in labor, farming or were on the lookout for employment opportunities but in vain. Most of them had dropped out of education due to financial reasons. These youth were given technical and soft-skills training for 3 months at the Sri Sri Kaushal Vikas Kendra under the Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana
